About NAACP
The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People was established in 1909 in the United States. It is a civil rights organization that was formed as an interracial endeavour to support justice for African Americans.
The group for whom this association was created is made up of the following people:
- E. B. Du Bois,
- Mary White Ovington
- Moorfield Storey
- Ida B. Wells
The organization works to disrupt and dismantle the following areas:
- Inequality
- Racism
They also work to speed up change in core areas such as:

About NAACP Scholarships
NAACP provides internship opportunities and financial scholarships to exceptional graduate students, college students, and high school seniors. The scholarship is both merit-based and need-based and spans across award amount, age and academic interests. This scholarship program is part of the organization’s Inspire Initiatives Program.
The selection process is impartial as the organization awards financial opportunities and recognition to both graduating high school seniors and/or career professionals. Each recipient is awarded the aim to aid them with post-educational and collegiate endeavours.

Eligibility Criteria for the NAACP Scholarships
The following are the criteria that make one eligible for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Scholarship:
- Must be a member of the NAACP.
- Must be African American.
- Must be a person of color.
- Must be presently enrolled full-time in an academic institution.
- Must have already been accepted to a reputable university or college in the United States.
- Must be on a grade point average of 3.0 or above for a 4.0 score system.
- Demonstrate interest in a relevant field or study.
How to Apply for NAACP Scholarships
- Go to the association’s official scholarship portal at naacp.org/find-resources/scholarships-awards-internships/scholarships.
- Check for the scholarship you are applying for.
- Read through the scholarship guidelines.
- Click on “Apply”.
- Upload all required documents and credentials.
- Submit.
You can also apply to join the association at www.naacp.org.
Note: Once an application that contains fraudulent information is detected, such application will be disqualified even without notifying the application. Also, if you are not contacted then your application was not successful.
