Programme Summary
The UBA Graduate Trainee Programme is tailored to choose, train, and form a conduit of Next Generation leaders and bankers who will be groomed to steer the Bank’s vision of being the choice bank in Africa. The aim of this programme is to motivate its participants to uncover the next level of their lives after they graduate.
The mission is to accelerate fresh understanding and life-transforming enlightenment. The learning process in the programme is engaging and interactive. The participants have the opportunity to learn from industry experts and develop a master’s level business mind.
About United Bank of Africa (UBA)
UBA is a sixty-five (65) year-old Pan-African financial group that has been serving businesses, households, and communities in Africa. Since its inception in 1948, it has taken over the assets and liabilities of the British and French Bank by providing uninterrupted banking operations.
In the year 1961, was officially incorporated as a Limited Liability Company and in 2005, UBA amalgamated with Standard Trust Bank (STB), one of the biggest developments in the same banking industry in the history of sub-Saharan Africa.
In 1970, UBA became the first bank in Nigeria to make a primary offering to the public which then made the UBA London business a subsidiary. In 1984, the bank established a New York branch.
Awards
UBA is known as the first bank to issue Global Depository Receipts in 1998. It acquired Continental Trust Bank in 2005. In 2012, the bank won Financial Times’ Bankers award as the Universal Bank in Africa, Best Bank in Senegal, and Best Bank in Cameroon. In 2014/2015, they were awarded by the Banker Magazine as the Bank of the Year in Chad and Senegal.
In the same year, they also won the Africa Investor Social Infrastructure Deal of the Year award. In 2021, the bank again won the esteemed “African Bank of the Year” as awarded by the Banker Magazine. In the same year, UBA received its operating license to operate in the United Arab Emirates.
As of last year, 2022, UBA started business operations in Dubai.

How Much is the fee for UBA Graduate Trainee Program?
UBA pay their graduate trainees a salary range of N43,000 – N60,000 for the four months training period. The salary is to cover their transport and other expenses.
If the trainee is employed after the programme, they receive a monthly salary within the range of N120,000 – N142,000 asides other allowances.
Requirements for the UBA Graduate Trainee Program
- Applicants need to have a second-class (upper credit) degree from an approved and accredited university.
- Applicants must not be above twenty-seven (27) years of age at the time of application.
- Applicants must have completed their mandatory one year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) or have an exemption certificate from NYSC.
- Applications from all individuals are welcomed irrespective of school discipline.
- You must not have experience of any kind to apply.
- Having computer or digital literacy skills is an added advantage.
- Nigerian applicants need to have a minimum of five (5) credit passes in the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE), especially in English Language and Mathematics.
- Applicants should be able to represent / protect the image and interest of the organization.
- Applicants have to pass a mental and physical test to determine whether they are fit.
- Competency & fluency in written and spoken English is required.
- Applicants should be able to conduct themselves properly in a professional work environment.
- Applicants need to have a legal means of identification. It could be Voter’s Card, International Passport, Valid Driver’s License, or National Identification Card.
