About Google
Google is a search engine founded by Sergey Brin and Larry Page to market Google Search. It was established in 1998 to market Google Search and soon after, it became the most used web-based search engine. The founders were students at Stanford University which is based in California.
They first developed a search algorithm known as ‘BackRub’ in the year 1996. They were assisted by Alan Steremberg and Scott Hassan. Since its inception, its expanding company has been in transit; but in 2003, the company finally settled at Mountain View. Google has various scholarship programs for different target audiences. They include:

This scholarship is designed to give financial aid to women pursuing computer science. This is to help them become leaders in their field and to excel in technology. The recipient will be awarded 7,000 euros (5,933,760 Naira) for the new academic year.
It is a full scholarship that is available to undergraduate students from all countries. The deadline for this scholarship is 16th May 2024.
Applicants are judged and later rewarded based on their academic performance demonstrated leadership, and commitment to diversity, inclusion and equity. Once you meet all the minimum requirements, feel free to apply. Women who are interested in computer science are strongly encouraged to apply.

- Google Conference Scholarship for African Students
This scholarship is awarded to university students who wish to attend leading conferences in the African continent. It is a full-sponsorship scholarship that focuses on helping the break down of barriers that shield underrepresented groups in business and technology from attending leading conferences.
This scholarship is available to undergraduate, postgraduate, master’s and PhD students. The deadline is not specified.
Requirements –
- Must be a full-time enrolled student.
- Your academic institution must be a recognized university.
- Your academic institution must be located in Africa.
- You must need conference travel funds.
- Have evidence of your acceptance into a top-tier computer science conference.
- The accepted paper must show that you are their sole or joint first author.
