Also known as the ‘Development University’, EKSU is known for providing all the functions that an academic institution of higher learning can in a developmental process. It also aims to identify and resolve developmental problems.

About Ekiti State University
The creation of the university was unseemly based on the mere promise of the then-gubernatorial candidate for Ondo State, Chief M. A. Ajasin. After he was elected and sworn in, he fulfilled his promise in March 1981, when he announced the establishment of a multi-campus university.
This announcement was made at the launch of the 4th National Development Plan. To further elevate the people’s trust in his promise, he selected seventeen (17) individuals to form the Consultative Committee who would work on the university’s Blueprint.

EKSU held its first matriculation ceremony on Friday, 25th March 1983. It was held at the Assembly Hall of Ajitadidun Temporary Campus, Ado-Ekiti.
How Much Does the UTME and DE form Cost in EKSU?
The UTME and DE forms for Ekiti State University cost two thousand naira (N2,000) only.
Requirements for getting admission into Ekiti State University
- The applicant should score a minimum of 160 and above in his/her JAMB. This score does not, however, apply to all the courses. Professional courses like Medicine, Law, and Nursing need 250, 250, and 220 scores respectively.
- Applicants should have a minimum of five (5) credit passes in either WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB. Direct Entry students should have at least a lower credit score to qualify.
- Applicants should choose EKSU as their first choice. Those who did not do that can still apply. However, they are advised to effect an immediate change of institution to EKSU.
- The candidate should not be less than sixteen (16) years of age.
Guidelines for Applying to the Ekiti State University.
Applying to study at EKSU should not be too tasking. Follow these simple steps to make a successful application.
- Visit the school’s official website at eksu.edu.ng, it will navigate you to the school’s online application portal.
- Select ‘New Applicant’ and provide the necessary data required of you to create your account.
- It is advisable to use your Jamb Reg No as your password.
- A confirmation link will be sent to your email address. Click the link to confirm your email and complete your registration.
- You will be diverted back to the online application portal page. You can now log in with your email and password.
- After you are done registering, cross-check your details and make your payment.
- After successfully paying, click the “Proceed” button to fill in the form.
- Upload your recent passport photograph with a white background. The passport should be in JPEG format only.
- If you have your WAEC or NECO results, then fill them in too. However, if you do not have it, you can wait for results on the condition that once they are released, you will supply them.
- Submit your application and print out a hard copy of the completed form.
