UNILORIN information to graduands on the 37th & 38th Convocation Ceremonies

This is to notify all graduands for the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 academic sessions of the University of Ilorin that the 37th and 38th Convocation Ceremonies will be held on October 13th and Sunday 29th, 2023, on the University Main Campus.

All respective graduands are required to download the Google Form from the University of Ilorin Alumni Association’s website and save it on their phones as compliance.

UNILORIN Newly admitted students to resume October

The University of Ilorin’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, has assured parents and stakeholders that all newly admitted students will resume their academic programs in October this year.

Prof. Egbewole also assured UNILORIN FM 89.3 that the admission exercise has been completed, as most successful candidates have paid clearance fees, confirming their acceptance of their admission, without specifying the specific number of candidates offered.

The legal luminary congratulated the successful candidates and urged them to uphold good conduct, follow university rules, and be good ambassadors for their families and parents.

Prof. Egbewole, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), urged the university staff and students to align with his administration’s vision to achieve the university’s goal of becoming Nigeria’s top university, among the top ten in Africa, and among the top 500 globally.

UNILORIN School of Preliminary Studies Application form, 2024/2025

The management and the entire board of trustees of the University of Ilorin have officially announced the commencement of the 2024–2025 academic session of the School of Preliminary Studies’ (SPS) Programme. 

Candidates are hereby invited to apply for admission into the 2023/2024 academic session of the School of Preliminary Studies’ (SPS) Programme. Those who pass the final examination and meet the university’s approved UTME cut-off point will be considered for degree programs.

The top ten students in Sciences, Arts, and Commercial subject areas in the SPS final exams who meet university entry requirements are now eligible for admission into various university courses, except MB, BS, and LAW, and under-listed courses offered at the SPS.

 Admission Requirements

Category 1: Arts and Arts Education:

The Department of Psychology requires an O’ level Biology credit grade and UTME Biology exam. Other Social Sciences courses include English, Economics, Government, Geography, and Commerce.

Duration of Programme:

The program is designed for a single academic session.

Eligibility:

The preliminary studies program is primarily open to applicants from the Catchment States of the University of Ilorin but also offers opportunities to applicants from other Federation states.

General Conditions:

  1. The School Board has approved applicants with a minimum of three O’Level subjects to apply for the program, provided they have registered for and obtained a credit pass in the deficient subjects before being considered for admission into the degree program.
  2. To study engineering, candidates must achieve O’level credit grades in Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics and pass the English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics examination at UTME.
  3. Candidates must submit the 2024 UTME with relevant subjects for any Arts or Sciences program and obtain the university’s approved minimum cutoff point.
  4. Students who failed the school’s end-of-programme examinations but couldn’t reach the university’s minimum JAMB/UTME cutoff point can rescind their remedial result for the following year, provided they obtain the cutoff point.
  5. Applicants must pass five credit-level subjects in the SSCE/GCE conducted by WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB, including major subjects, two from Arts, and the remaining subjects from Social Sciences. English Language and Mathematics credit grades are compulsory for University of Ilorin program admission.

Category 2: Agriculture, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Science Education, Environmental Sciences, Engineering and Technology,  and Technology Education

  • Applicants must pass English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics in two sittings in the SSCE/GCE conducted by WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB.

Specific requirements: The Faculty of Agriculture will accept a credit grade in Agricultural science in lieu of a credit grade in Biology.

Category 3: Social Sciences

Applicants must pass English Language, Mathematics, and three Economics, Government, Geography, and Commerce subjects in two sittings in the SSCE/GCE conducted by WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB.

Venue of Programme:

The program is scheduled to be held at the School of Preliminary Studies in Fufu, Ilorin South Local Government Headquarters, Kwara State.

Method of Application:

Candidates can apply for the 2023/2024 Remedial Application on the University of Ilorin website, which requires a payment of N15, 000.00 with an additional fee for using an Inter-switch-enabled ATM card.

Candidates must download a Local Government Confirmation Form, endorsed by their local government area chairman or secretary, and bring it and SSCE/GCE certificates or result slips during registration for admission. 

Note that classes commence on Monday, October 23rd, 2024.
