About the State Civil Service Commission.

The State Civil Service Commission is an independent body created by the government to manage civil service. It is an offshoot of the Federal body. How much does the State Civil Service pay?

The modalities for determining the salary structure of the State Civil Service are usually worked out before it is implemented. Generally, the minimum wage in Nigeria is N18,000. The Commission pays a salary based on one’s qualifications and level in office.

  • For instance, an individual who does not have any form of education will earn N18,900. That is N900 above the minimum wage. This minimum waged staff is on Grade Level 01 Step 1.
  • A school leaver who has only a First School Leaving Certificate will be paid barely above minimum wage. The salary range for this level is usually from N19,000 to N20,250 monthly. The school leaver is on Grade Level 04 Step 1. Additionally, school leavers on this Grade Level who has attained Step 15 will earn an estimated higher salary of N34,000 monthly.
  • Officers who are just a level ahead of secondary school graduates earn N26,350 monthly. They are on Grade Level 06 Step 01. Continuously, officers who are on the same Grade Level but have attained Step 15 will earn a higher salary of N44,300 monthly.
  • Graduates who have their BSc or BA certificate will be paid an estimated amount of N45,000 monthly. Graduates are on Grade Level 07 Step 1. Graduates who are diploma certificate holders will earn an estimated sum of N43,000 monthly. Graduates who are on Grade Level 08 Step 15 earn an estimated amount of N82,000 monthly.
  • Those who occupy Executive positions also earn according to rank and position. Executives on Grade Level 10 Step 1 earn N76,209.25 every month. However, those on the same Grade Level but on Step 15 earn a higher salary of N110,302. Executives on Grade Level 12 Step 1 earn N87,684 monthly. Those on the same Grade Level who has reached Step 11 and above will earn a higher salary of N125,549. Executives on Grade Level 13 Step 1 earn N97,852.75 monthly. While Executives on the same Grade Level who has attained Step 11 and above will earn a higher salary of N137,787.75 monthly. Executives on Grade Level 14 Step 1 earn N107,985 monthly, and N150,977 monthly when they have Step 11 and above. Executives on Grade Level 15 Step 1 earn N148,218 every month and a higher salary of N196,928 monthly when they have attained Step 9. Executives on Grade Level 16 Step 1 earn N183,140 monthly and when they have attained Step 9 of the same Grade Level, they earn a higher salary of N454,345 monthly.
  • Directors of the State Civil Service Commission are the most-paid workers in the civil service. They earn a monthly salary of N454,344.

If the individual is promoted, his level will change, and his salary will be increased.
