This is why your Jamb Admission is Delayed

Jamb admission is delayed?

This is why your Jamb admission is delayed: Are you wondering why a lot of people have been offered admission into their preferred institution but your name is yet to be out or your admission is being delayed? Well, you are fortunate to be on this page.

We have cases where applicants who had sat for the JAMB complain of not being able to see their names on the list despite having high JAMB Scores and very impressive post-UTME results.

Every applicant seeking to write JAMB wishes to come out among the first batch and it would be disheartening if after scoring high, your admission ends up delaying.

We have several factors that can cause an applicant’s name to be omitted from the first or merit batch admission list and all factors will be discussed in this article. If you do not know any of these factors then you are on the right page.

In this guide, I will highlight factors that show why your Jamb admission is delayed.

Why your JAMB Admission is Delayed

Here are reasons or factors that show why your JAMB Admission is being delayed. They Include;

Incomplete or Wrong subject combination

As an applicant seeking to write the JAMB Examination, one of the factors you need to take into consideration is choosing a course and the right subject combination for that course.

If your O’Level and UTME subjects do not go with the required ones for a particular course you intend to study, there is likely no way you will be admitted into any institution of your choice with that course.

The only thing that can happen is that if the Institution offers supplementary admission later, you will then be considered for admission only if you can apply for a course that matches their subject combination.

Not Meeting the Departmental Cut-off Mark

As an applicant, it is important to note that we have some Institutions in which the department has its cut-off mark it is also advisable to check all this information, especially on the school you wish to get admitted to.

However, if you scored a high mark in JAMB which qualified you to participate in the institution’s post-UTME screening, it does not automatically mean you are qualified for admission into that particular course.

You need to meet up to the departmental cut-off mark and this departmental cut-off mark is picked via the number of students applying for that particular course, how many high scores are available for that academic year, and the already numbered students in that department.

The departmental cut-off mark can be changed and also increased even without the candidate’s knowledge.

Your Department has Lost its Accreditation

Another reason why your JAMB Admission could be delayed is if the department you wish to go into or your institution of choice has lost its accreditation. When this usually happens, the Institution may have no choice but to either not admit any student at all or admit just a limited number of candidates into that department.

All applicants who are usually victims of this are always advised to seek supplementary admission or change of course.

Your Name did not make it into the 45% Merit Quota

It is important to note that according to the admission policy, only 45% percent of the total number of applicants are to be admitted to any institution based on merit.

However, not all qualified applicants for admission will be on the merit list regardless of their post-UTME or JAMB Score. If you are among candidates whose names are not on the merit list, you can simply wait for the supplementary list to be advertised and hope to see your name on the list when it is finally out.

FAQ

Why am I seeing “you have not been given admission yet”?

If you are seeing this on the admission status, this could be because the institution you selected may not have released its admission list at the time you checked your admission status.

With these, it could lead to seeing this message”Sorry, you have Not Been Given Admission yet”.

Can you still get admission from JAMB after the late uploading of the result?

It is important to note that candidates who do not upload their O’level results before the stipulated deadline will not be given or considered for any admission.

What is belated admission?

This is when your application is being considered late. If you had applied for the programs or courses you wish to study after the application deadline or you probably had submitted your supporting documentation or requirement after the deadline for the submitting document.

Can I change my course after getting admission?

This is very much possible in any Nigerian University. Looking at Nigerian Universities, provision has been made for admitted students who have intentions of changing from their current course to another within the first two years of their admission into the institution.

However, it is important to note that changing this course is not always an easy task, it takes time and it requires some important documents which will be required from the Institution.

Can I defer my admission twice?

It is vital to note that you can only defer your admission twice. Deferring simply means delaying your attendance to a future intake. A student who is admitted into a program and has also paid their full tuition deposit can defer their admission to a future program or the next academic year’s start date.

Summing Up

As an applicant seeking to write the JAMB Examination, it is important to take note of the factors that can delay your admission into your preferred institution or even department.

You can simply check out these factors above on this page and make sure to follow our advice on what is needed to be on the merit list when the admission list is out.
