The Federal Ministry of Education led by the Honorable Minister of Education (HME), Tahir Mamman, has announced that this year’s Federal Government Scholarship program has started.

Interested and qualified candidates can access the Federal Government scholarship application form 2024/2025 from the portal via www.education.gov.ng to apply.

However, the Federal Bilateral Education Agreement (BEA) Scholarship is tense to enable interested and qualified candidates to acquire educational assistance and support. Note, that this scholarship program is for undergraduates and postgraduates.

Federal Government Scholarship Application Form – How to Apply

However, the following are the steps to successfully apply for the Federal Government scholarship program for 2024.

Log in to the official Federal Ministry of Education portal via www.education.gov.ng and navigate to the Federal Government Scholarship Board ICON to proceed with the application.

Complete the application form with your required details
Submit and print the examination slip
Multiple application leads to automatic withdrawal.

Note that the application is free of charge and is done online. The portal is accessible to all interested candidates at all times provided you have a strong internet connection in your device.

Requirements for Federal Government Scholarship (Undergraduates)

All applicants should meet the following requirement before proceeding to the portal to apply.

Applicants must be Nigerian Citizens
All applicants for undergraduate degree courses must possess a minimum qualification of Five (5) Distinctions (As & Bs) in the Senior Secondary School Certificate, including English Language and Mathematics only in relevant subjects to their fields of study.
Other applicants (UG, HND & NCE) must be full-time registered students in their second year or above in Federal or State Universities, Polytechnics, Monotechnics, and Colleges of Education.
Undergraduate Scholarship applicants (Both Physically challenged) must have a 4.0 at least CGPA on a five (5) point scale or its equivalents or 5.0 on a 7 point scale.
Applicants must have a unique valid NIN, phone number, and email address
Applicants’ certificates must not exceed two years at the time of application
Applicants’ age range is from 18 to 20 years
Computer literacy and English proficiency are very important.

Requirements for Federal Government Scholarship (Postgraduates)

All applicants should have a First Degree with at least 2nd Class Upper Division
Candidates who are previous recipients of Foreign Awards are expected to have completed at least two (2) years post qualification or employment practice in Nigeria.
All candidates must present his/her NYSC completion certificate
Applicants’ age limit is 35 years for Masters and 40 years for Ph.D.
Evidence of readiness to be released by the employer.

How Much Does the Federal Government Pay for Scholarship?

The scholarship is valid in Nigeria and begins to apply at the start of the current academic year. Undergraduate scholars receive N150,000. Graduate scholars receive N180,000. HND and NCE recipients each receive N100,000.

Who is Eligible for Federal Government Scholarship?

The cumulative grade point average (CGPA), including those with physical disabilities, must be at least 4.0 on a 5-point scale (or its equivalent) or 5.0 on a 7-point scale for applicants to undergraduate scholarships. Applicants for the NCE and HND must have a CGPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
