Summary of the Program
The AU Internship Program is a full-time commitment via which capable and qualified individuals with diverse academic backgrounds have the privilege to acquire professional exposure within the AU.
The program focuses on unveiling the participants to the workings of the AU at the beginning of their professional careers and fortifying their personal and professional skills. It proffers an avenue for participants to get hands-on experience in different application fields while being taught in an intercultural environment.
The body will deeper benefit from the support given by participants who have satisfactory skills and knowledge in needed areas and act as a potential grooming ground for future African Leaders.
About African Union
African Union is a multinational body that comprises fifty-five (55) member states that form the countries of the African Continent. It succeeded the Organization of African Unity and was officially launched in July 2002 in Durban, South Africa.
The decision to change the name from OAU to AU was made in September 1999 by the OAU to make a new transnational organization to build on its network. The decision was based on a need to recast attention from the fight for colonial freedom and freeing the continent from apartheid.
The actions, inactions, and decisions of the AU are guided by the organization’s vision for a unified, successful, and peaceful Africa, motivated by its citizens and acting as a dynamic force in the global arena.
