Eligibility Criteria for the Gates Foundation Scholarship

The following are the eligibility requirements for the Gates Foundation Scholarship

  • Must be a high school senior
  • Belong to at least one of the following ethnicities: African-American, American, Asian & Pacific Islander American, Indian/Alaska Native, and Hispanic American
  • Pell-eligible
  • Must be a permanent US resident or citizen
  • Possess a minimum of  3.3 CGPA on a 4.0 scale
  • Possess good academic records
  • Leadership ability
  • Have good emotional maturity, motivation, perseverance, etc.
  • All candidates must be enrolled in a full-time four-year degree program in any US private or public university.

 

Application Procedures for the Gates Foundation Scholarship

The following are the procedures to successfully apply for the Gates Foundation Scholarship.

  • Apply for admission to a course and college where Gates Foundation scholarships are operating
  • Create an account on the website.
  • Provide all your required personal information
  • Submit the following documents to the portal:
    • Gates Foundation Statement: Not more than 3000 characters (approximately 500 words) State the reason for your application and how you meet the core requirements.
    • CV/Resume
    • Research proposal (Ph.D. applicants only)
    • Gates reference
  • Answer the application questions.
  • Submit the application

  • Undergraduate degrees such as BA or BA affiliated.
  • Business Doctorate (BusD)
  • Master of Business (MBA)
  • Master of Finance (MFin)
  • PGCE
  • MBBChir Clinical Studies
  • MD Doctor of Medicine degree 
  • Graduate Course in Medicine (A101)
  • Part-time degrees
  • Non-degree courses

 

Documents Required

All interesting candidates who are qualified for the Gates Foundation Scholarship are required to upload the following documents during their application.

  • Candidates’ copy of transcript(s) (submitted by the counselor).
  • Student Aid Report (SAR).
  • Financial Aid Award Letter.
  • Admission letter of full-time four-year degree program in any US private or public university.
  • Passport Photograph
  • Resume.
