About The Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL)

NPFL Recruitment

Following the success of Nigerian football, the country’s professional football leagues are among the highest in African football, producing many good players in the past.

The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), founded 47 years ago, is the highest level of the Nigerian football system, with 20 teams participating in the League, as is done in many parts of the world.

However, unlike in Europe, where private investors own the majority of teams, the government owns 90 percent of Nigeria’s top-flight clubs. The Nigerian Football League is currently governed by the League Management Company (LMC), which is led by Shehu Dikko and Ndukka Iraboh.

Prior to the establishment of this body by former Sports Minister Bolaji Abdullahi, the country’s top-tier football was known as the Nigerian Premier League, which was led by Rumson Baribote.

All Nigerian League clubs conduct their recruitment prior to the start of the season, with each team expected to register 35 players to compete in a season. The Nigerian League transfer window opens after week 19 games, during which clubs can still drop players or bring in fresh legs to bolster their squads.

Nevertheless, this creates an avenue for most clubs in the Nigerian Professional Football League to allow talented players to showcase their abilities while also bringing them into the team.

How to Join The NPFL Recruitment

There are certain things to be considered to be able to join the NPFL (Nigerian Professional Football League), these things are discussed in this section. read below

  • Be Sure of Yourself:

To begin, you must assess yourself in terms of the type of player you are. Then, practice your strengths until they become second nature. Also, create a portfolio of your videos and playing skills in any format to show to anyone who might be interested in you.

  • Be Enroll in a Football Academy:

If you are an aspirant to be recruited into the NPFL and you are still between the ages of 13 and 18 and want to improve your football skills, I recommend you join a football academy.

When you join a football academy, you will be instructed by a qualified coaching staff who understand the fundamentals of the game. They will assist you in developing professional techniques and honing your natural abilities.

  • Go to the Trial Camp:

If you have recently graduated from a football school and are between the ages of 15 and 18, this idea is for you. You should begin attending trial camps, particularly well-organized ones abroad.

If you can get into a trial camp, top scouts and agents will watch you play, and if your skills impress them, you could be accepted into one of the top-flight youth teams.

  • Have a Deal with an Intermediary (Licensed Player’s Agent):

This one is for those who currently play for a professional football club in Nigeria’s league.

You simply need to find an Intermediary, also known as a player’s licensed Agent, to represent you. A Licensed Player’s Agent can assist you in obtaining invitations to trial tests with clubs all over the world.

However, It is even easier if you already have professionally filmed and edited video clips of your best performances in the Nigerian league. Agents can then present your video clips to clubs and invite you to a trial test.
