Job Summary:  

Streetkids Matter Empowerment Foundation seeks to employ a qualified Care worker to work as part of its team.

As a Care Worker at our residential home, you’ll provide compassionate care to the children under our care. This includes creating a nurturing environment, assisting with daily activities, and promoting their overall well-being.

 

Minimum Qualification: High School (S.S.C.E)  

Experience Level: Entry level  

Experience Length: 1 year  

 

Responsibilities:  

Direct Care and Support:  

  • Assist with daily living activities like bathing, dressing, and meal preparation.  
  • Supervise chores, homework, and recreational activities as per individual care plans.  
  • Administer medication and assist with medical appointments under healthcare professionals’ guidance.

Emotional and Social Support:  

  • Build positive relationships with children through active listening and encouragement.  
  • Engage children in recreational and educational activities for socialization and development.  
  • Provide emotional support and guidance as needed.

Safety and Crisis Management:  

  • Ensure a safe environment by enforcing rules and addressing safety concerns.  
  • Intervene in conflicts or challenging situations using de-escalation techniques.  
  • Collaborate with the team to implement crisis intervention plans.

Documentation and Reporting:  

  • Maintain accurate records of daily activities and incidents.  
  • Complete required documentation according to organizational policies.

 

Requirements:  

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in caregiving or child development is advantageous.  
  • Previous experience working with children, preferably in a childcare setting.  
  • Strong interpersonal skills and empathy.  
  • Knowledge of child development and behavior management.  
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

 

Working Conditions:  

  • May involve standing, walking, bending, and lifting.  
  • Rotating shifts may include evenings, overnights, and weekends.
