The Police Clearance Certificate
The Nigeria Police Clearance Certificate is issued by the Nigerian Police to persons who have applied for it, staying in Nigeria, and which shows that the obtainee has no criminal record in Nigeria.
Foreigners can apply for the PPC Police Clearance Certificate but only on the grounds that they have lived in Nigeria for a period not less than 30 days.
Who Issues the Police Clearance Certificate?
The Police Clearance Certificate is issued by the Nigerian Police Force upon grounds that the applicant has been able to meet the requirements or criteria for the certificate. The certificate is usually issued at the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Police Criminal Registry, and in any Nigerian Police Criminal Registry in all 36 states of Nigeria.
Requirements for Obtaining the Police Clearance Certificate
- A valid International Passport (that in the bio-data page).
- Two passport-size photographs.
- An application fee (this varies from state to state).
Failure to meet the requirements automatically disqualifies you from getting the certificate.
How to Apply
1. Log on to www.npf.gov.ng
2. Click the tinted permit link on the quick-link menu.
3. Fill out the registration form on the right to obtain an Application ID.
4. Complete the Application Process by Login in with your email and the Application ID electronically generated.
5. Fill out the Bio-Data form when logged in and enter the details of the Vehicle you want to obtain a tinted permit for with the instructions outlined on the page.
6. Upload your vehicle license, and proof of ownership.
7. Print out the information submitted then take the Print-out to the State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) in any Police Command, to capture your biometrics.
8. Applicants applying on medical grounds must upload a medical report obtained from any government hospital and must bring original copies of all relevant documents for verification before their biometrics can be captured.
9. Upon completion of this procedure, your application shall be processed and decisions including issuance of the permit if the application is successful shall be conveyed within five working days. Your application will be fully processed after these steps.
